THE OLDEST BUILDING IN LEE COUNTY MISSISSIPPI:

These brick walls were built before Tupelo MS was created. We were annexed in 1860 into the town of Verona, MS.

Our building was a Civil War Headquarters of ammunition distribution headquarters for Nathan Bedford Forrest (July 13, 1821 - October 29, 1877) who was a lieutenant general in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War.

The Town Hall was the Jail, Marriage Chapel and Court House for Lee County several years.

Still standing with the original walls of brick popping through the latest restoration, the true feel of the Southern Commerce screams with it's rustic decor and colors as soon as you step into the doors.

The careful restoration has been done working with the building  and replacing what needed with the same period wood and bricks to keep the originality of it's history.

History we have to offer besides the above: First BankCorp South office, The wedding site of Vernon & Gladys Presley, first Post Office in Lee County.

Among the large collection of Elvis memorabilia inside, there is area history, local Blue's Music history, recreation of 'Elvis's' birth place front porch, area commerce signs of vintage origin, art displays and much more.

Come tour all three buildings and be wowed! Warning this place is not a quick see location, plan to spend at the least one hour it is overwhelming with information and photos!

WORLD'S ONLY
INSIDE ELVIS BIRTH PLACE
RECREATION

Yes inside our building is the replica of 'Elvis Presley's' Birth Place home.
The wood this was constructed from is of the same period that the real home was made of, so you will see some white wash but not much we wanted to keep it authentic. Not a doll house, but a closer rendition of the real thing as it would look today.

VERONA HOTEL

This is the Hotel that Vernon & Gladys stayed the night in for their Honey Moon after being married. They did not have much time only one evening. The Hotel was on the corner of College and  Main St in Verona MS. It has since burnt down, but photos of it are present.
